COMMUNITY NEWS

~ADOT has begun improvements to the Loop 303 in Phoenix & Peoria. They will be improving Loop 303 between Lake Pleasant Parkway and Interstate 17 by adding one general purpose lane in each direction, bridges to accommodate a future interchange at 67th Avenue, and a new Loop 303/I-17 system interchange. The project will be completed in three phases, with an estimated completion timeframe of late 2028. You can learn more at ADOT.org
~The Property Owners and Residents Association (PORA) will host its Roads, Traffic, and Safety meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at PORA, 13415 Camino del Sol.
Residents are invited to bring community concerns directly to local officials. Committee members include representatives from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Maricopa County Department of Transportation, Arizona Fire & Medical, the Sun City West Posse, the PRIDES, and the Cyclists Club.
This month’s discussion will focus on speeding complaints along 135th Avenue and updates on the El Mirage Road extension north of Loop 303. Officials will also provide community updates and answer resident questions.

ARIZONA TRIVIA
Who designed Sedona's well-known Church of the Holy Cross? |
Last week’s trivia question was ‘What is the name of the mountain peaks that are home to the Navajo & Hopi Gods?’
The answer was: San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff

For the Navajo (Diné), the San Francisco Peaks are called Dookʼoʼoosłííd, one of the four sacred mountains marking the boundaries of their traditional homeland. For the Hopi, the peaks are also deeply sacred — they are considered the home of the Katsinamm (Kachina spirits), who travel from the peaks to bring rain and blessings to the Hopi villages.
